Cadillac Repair: Fuel Oder No Leaks, incomplete combustion, vacuum lines

Question
My 1990 Deville has a constant smell of fuel at all times. Smells like an open can of gas is in my garage. Car runs great at all speeds and conditions. Searched everywhere I can see inside the engine compartment and under the car and dont see any signs of any leaks, also made sure all of the vacuum lines are installed....Its a mystery. Only think I can think is that there is a line broken on top of the tank where I cannot see???? Any ideas of where I can start?

Answer
Ahh a fellow 90 deville owner, i love mine because every day i have the pleasure of fixing a broken component haha, anyways check the fuel filter which is in front of the rear driver side tire under the chasis. It sounds like incomplete combustion though, how old are your ignition components, it may be time for a replacement. also check your exhaust for rusted out holes and leaks.
