-----Question-----
the starter motor continues to turnover after i turn the  ignition switch off. really only happens when after car has not been started for some time, say overnight. 425 V8, 4bl. 80,000 miles.
-----Answer-----
Did you re-install the flat pieces of aluminum between the starter and the engine block. These are called STARTER SHIMS. You have to add 1,2 or 3 shims as the starter is getting stuck in the flywheel. Ask any auto parts store for them.

Answer
OK, Then most likely the bendix on the starter shaft that engages into the flywheel is sticking on the shaft and not returning and or there is battery voltage still at the "S" terminal on the starter after you release the key.

check for battery voltage at the "S" terminal FIRST per above when the engine is running.
