Cadillac Repair: driver side window, rubber boot, doing the right thing

Question
Earlier I had a problem with the driver side window opertaining when it wanted to.  It appears that the power source is fine---but the contact is bad.  All the other windows operate from the the driver side panel.  However, it appears that the contacts for movving the outside mirrors is not operating also.  2002 Escalade.  I really neeed to have the driver's side repaired this week to travel for Christmas.  I just want to make sure I don't get zapped...I know it is not motor that makes the window go is fine...HELP... I plan to take to dealership tomorrow.  Others say they have problem getting parts.

Answer
Hi Michelle,

Without doing some testing to determine whats happening I would like to think that the switches need replaceing. What can also happen is a wire can break inside the rubber boot between the door hinges. Then that motor won't work.

You are doing the right thing by takeing it to the dealer. They have a locator system that can find the part thats needed anywhere in the country and have it shipped overnight so unless the part is on backorder there shouldn't be a problem getting parts. Bill
