Cadillac Repair: heater malfunction, climate control, air cond

1989 cad brougham rwd 5.0 liter , climate control, the heater will blow only cold air , the fan speed does adjust when you change the temp. the air cond part seems to work ,but will not produce warm air when temp is increased have changed the thermostat. antifreeze levels ok

Answer
1. Open the glove box and remove the inner liner.

2. You will see a small threaded gold colored rod attached to a plastic arm.

3. Switch the system to full heat for 3 minutes and watch to see if that gold rod moves either away from you or towards you in a smooth and no noise movement about 2 inches.

4. switch the system to full heat and watch the gold rod as it should travel towards or away from you about 4 inches in a smooth and quiet movement.
