Question -
how do i set the timing on a 1981 cadillac eldorado?

Answer -
Hi James, To make sure I give you the correct information what size engine does your eldo have? Most cars have a lable under the hood eithor stuck to the air filter housing or mounted above the radiator. If it is unreadable, not there or you don't understand the procedures then I can help you further. Bill

Answer
Hi James, My first thoughts were you had the 8-6-4 engine that alot of Caddys had in '81 so I'm glad I didn't send info for that engine.

On most GM engines the fireing order will be cast on the intake manifold somewhere and they even put a number to correspond with the cylinder number on the runner leading to the head. I'm not sure if all manufacturers use this system but on other vehicles that you own you could see if that is true. To answer your question about where #1 cylinder is located it is the front cylinder on the drivers side and the distributor turns clockwise. So its 1-6-5-4-3-2.

Sounds like you found the timing sticker so hopefully you will be purring along in your Caddy in a short time. Let me know if I can be anymore help. Bill
