When I go to start the vehicle, sometimes it will not start.  My information center says, "pull the key and wait 3 minutes then try to restart".  Sometimes it starts and sometimes I have to wait 6 minutes.  My question is:  Is there a way to bypass the security system without interferring with other programs in the computer.  I have purchased a new resistor key and it doesn't make any difference in the starting of the car.  What other suggestions would you recommend?  I do not want to stick alot of money in this 13-year old vehicle.  Thank You

1. The resistor key resistance must MATCH the starting control module resistance value.

2. The contacts within the key lock mechanism on the steering column may be out of position.

3. Could be a faulty starting module.

Your dealer has a special test box to test this system.
