Cadillac Repair: BATTERY NO CHARGE MESSAGE, altenator, electrical plug

I OWN A 1995 DEVILLE. MY ALTENATOR WENT OUT RECENTLY AND WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE, BUT MY CAR STILL WONT CHARGE THE BATTERY.

I HAD IT CHECKED AT THE LOCAL AUTO STORE WITH A VOLT METER AND TESTER. THE ALTENATOR IS THROWING OUT A CHARGE, BUT BATTERY WONT TAKE IT.

WHAT COULD BE THE MAJOR PROBLEM? I STILL GET A BATTERY NO CHARGE WARNING ON MY DASH.

Install another alternator and see if it works. I don't care what readings you got from the other one.

If the second alternator does the same thing you need to disconnect the plastic electrical plug that plugs into the alternator and see if you have battery voltage at the small red wire with the ignition ON.
