Cadillac Repair: Intermitten MAP sensor, chilton manual, cadillac deville

Question
No change, the guys and Jiffy lube said the oil and filter looked fine and they did not detect any gasoline.
The plugs also looked fine, they've only been in it for a day or so.

If I unplug the TP sensor it doesnt stall, it smokes like a bandit, but does not stall.  Same thing with the ISC motor(the thing that controls the idle, maybe the ICS motor).

Also I forgot to mention it, all the plugs I pulled off when changing them were fine, except number 1 and 4.  Number 1 was black and crusty, number 4 was moist.

Question -
92 Cadillac Deville, with 4.9.

I aquired this car via a debt.  The cars exterior and interior is great.  The runs.  The service engine soon light is on.  I check the codes via the OFF + Warmer method.  I believe its now setting an E071, intermitten MAP sensor.  This is what the car does:

The idle is up and down constantly for the first 10 15 minutes is almost smooth, however its dumping fuel.  If you put your hand in the exhuast it gets wet, and the car smokes a decent amount during idle, blue smoke.  After the first 10 15 minutes the car will start to miss and almost stall and make that knocking noise like there is to much gas in a cylinder.

I have changed, CAP, rotor, plugs, wires, MAP sensor, O2 sensor.  I tested the MAP before replacing and yes according to the CHilton manual the old MAP sensor worked too, but I had already ordered the new one and didnt want to take it back.  I tested the O2 sensor as well and it was stuck on 1 wire at .85 volts, the other wire was .05 volts I let the car run for quite a while and it didnt fluctuate at all.  I have not test the new sensor, but the car did run better after replacing the O2 sensor, however it still has the same basic problem.

1 other test I did(this may have been a bonehead idea, but what the heck).  I gave the car gas and got the RPMs up, dont know how high, reset the codes, and the E070 didnt come back, but the Service engine soon light didnt go out.  The RPMS were high during this whole test.  The motivation behind that is the TP sensor, when I tested that the A terminal seems to be a ground, C has a little more than 5 volts.  The B terminal at idle is around .85 to 1 volts(car running) and .85 when car is not running.  When I take the throttle and open it is smoothly increases to about 4.8 volts.

I also tried the jumper cable from the battery ground to the alternator bracket and that made no difference.  I also noticed that the plunger type deal connected to the throttle on the throttle body moves in and out allot.

Im not sure what else to check and the TP sensor is close to what the chilton manual says it should be (.5 volts) so I dont know if its worth changing.  I checked the electrical wires and they dont appear burnt.

Any thoughts or ideas?  Oh yeah, I erased the codes after all the repairs and still got the code.

Answer -
Check the spark plugs AGAIN to make sure that they are not carbon fouled or wet. If they are clean or replace them

Next change the oil and filter as you have the engine oil saturated with gasoline and the oxygen sensor is picking this up and causing your erratic idle.

let me know.

Answer
If plugs 1 and 4 are wet it is obvious that the spark plug, Plug wire and or dist cap is not sending a signal to fire the plug.

Did you put on a good set of wires or a cheap set as I have found out on numerous occassions that the cheap wires just don't seem to work as well.

Try moving the 1 and 4 spark plugs to other cylinders and see if they stay wet or the replaced ones in 1 and 4 now get wet.

I can e-mail you a test procedure for the TPS sensor and the MAP sensor and how to set the TPS correctly.
