Question -
Tom, this is an intermittent problem. Sometimes the car runs perfect. Sometimes it acts like an old carburated vehicle with a choke that is stuck shut. However, I'm beginning to believe it might be a transmission sensor of some sort.
When driving down the freeway at 75 mph, or driving down the neighborhood street at 15 mph, it will just die, even after driving it for quite while and it is good and warm....no chugging, no sputtering...it just quits. It's like somebody just turns the key off except the idiot lights stay on.
What makes me think it might have something to do with the transmission is that sometimes after I recrank it, I shift it into gear but it doesn't go into gear right away. Sometimes I have to wait several seconds with the engine at idle, and all of a sudden it just SLAMS into gear. Also, after cranking it, I can leave it in Park, and if I gradually raise the RPM a bit and then release it, when the RPM drops back down to idle, the car acts like it jumps out of gear, lurches a few inches, and then goes back into Park.
It's dangerous in that it dies at the most inopportune times.

Answer -
Check your computers for CODES.

1. Ignition ON, engine OFF.

2. simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons until the whole display lights up and release the buttons.

3. CODES will start to appear and then stop. Write them down and tell me what they are.

4. Turn OFF ignition.

Answer
The EE E41 is what we are interested in. You will need a diagnostic chart and some pictures with simple test procedures to test for and locate your fault.

You will need to contact me at:
