Cadillac Repair: I washed my engine bay now it idles high, cadillac seville sts, serial data link

Question
I did the code clearing procedure and the codes did go away. I took the car for a short ride and no codes reappeared. The car is still idling high though. Currently at about 1600 rpm.

1995 Cadillac Seville STS Northstar 219K miles

I washed my engine bay area on saturday. Immediately the car began to run rough and idle very high. (2500 rpm)

I went through the connections and sprayed them with electrical contact cleaner, but no difference.

I then tried the 're-learn idle' procedure and that brought the idle down to 1600 rpm when in park.

After clearing the code history, the following now show.

A037 History
T072 History
T077 History

Also, the vehicle seems to be running hot. The dash shows 208-217 degress when driving through town.

The car ran great until I power washed the motor. I'm confident I got water into something I shouldn't have, just dont know where to start.

Thank you!

PS. The dash message center always shows 'TRUNK OPEN.' althought the trunk is closed, the draw down motor and push-button open both work fine. Any ideas?

Also, the vehicle seems to be running hot. The dash shows 208-217 degress when driving through town.

The vehicle normally runs at a temp of 220 to 240.

A037 = Loss of instrument panel communications.
T072 = serial data link fault.
T077 = serial data link fault.

If you properly cleared the codes NONE of the HISTORY codes would be there.

Try clearing thm again and then go right back into diagnostics and see if the reappear. If they DO, Your not clearing them correctly.

Answer
Remove all the fresh air hoses so you can physically see the throttle plate area and you will probably find some black residue all in the bore and on both sides of the throttle plate. use a carb cleaner or other similar type of crud cleaner to clean off all this crud and also you will notice a small hole in the bore near the throttle plate area, spray some cleaner in this hole also and see if your idle returns to normal.

As for the trunk light there is a little ground tab that may be bent at the trunk latch that is causing your light to illuminate.
