Cadillac Repair: 1998 Cad Deville A/C recharge, red dye, cadillac deville

Question
Dear Tom,
I have 1998 Cadillac Deville Concourse. A few months ago the drivers information
center displayed "low-refrig a/c off". Since I usually don't run the a/c except
on extremely hot days I ignored it up until the outside temps started to get up
to 90d yesterday. Purchased over the counter a/c recharging unit and followed
directions precisely to recharge the system to 45psi. The product says it
contains a red dye to help locate leaks and none were detected. The problem is
that the DIC still reads the same message and the compressor does not kick in,
and it didn't when I recharged either. Fan and rest of heating, defrost
operations works fine. I read through your previous answers but did not find a
match to solve this problem. Hope you can help with a simple fix without having
to go into a dealership or repair shop.
Thanks, Mark

Answer
Set the control panel to 60 degrees on auto setting.

drain out the system of all freon.

Evacuate all the air out of the system using a vacuum pump.
