My Coolant Level ran from 196 to 240 back to 217 then to 262 telling me to shut down the engine. Then Coollant level came up. I had it tested for pressure, put in new water pump, thermostat, and flush coolant and replaced. Garage tested it by running it and said it was OK.

It ran for about 45 minutes and did it again having the same trouble with coolant level going
up and down, then overheating to idle car and stop engine, and having coolant level low again.

What is the problem?

Answer -
Appears to be a head gasket failure. Test for it.

Are the electric fans running ?.

Answer
You can remove the radiator hose and engine adapter from the top of the engine. fill the hole to the top with coolant and use a radiator pressure tester to pump air into the radiatir via the radiator cap and watch for bubbles at where you removed the top radiator hose.
