QuestionMY 1991 CADILLAC DEVILL QUIT RUNNING.THIS CAR HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CAR OF BUT JUST STOPPED OUT OF THE BLUE. MY BOYFRIEND IS A FAIRLY GOOD MECHANIC AND HE IS ALSO STUMPED. WE THOUGHT IT WAS FUEL SO WE CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP. THEN NO SPARK SO WE CHANGED THE COIL PLUGS/WIRES/CAP/ROTOR AND STILL NOTHING. COULD IT NEED A NEW COMPUTER? ONE TIME WHILE TRYING TO START IT,THE STARTER STAYED ENGUAGED EVEN AFTER THE KEY WAS TURNED OFF AND OUT OF THE IGNITION.
AnswerOK, Lets check the computer for FAULT CODES:
1. Ignition key ON, Engine OFF.
2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons on your climate control panel and as soon as all the segments of the dispaly illuminate release the buttons.
3. Watch the FUEL DATA PANEL for your fault codes.
4. Write down each LETTER/NUMBER code that appears in sequence and let me know what they are.
5. After the codes are done displaying you will see .7.0
6. Turn OFF the ignition.
If you miss any codes, Just repeat the above sequence.
