Cadillac Repair: suspension, number combinations, shock syndrome

Question
I own a 93 eldorado air ride equipped. When I turn the ignition on ,after the "monitored systems ok" I get the "service ride control" error code. I suspect that I need new shocks,so I tried shopping around for prices. Needless to say, Iam still recovering from sticker shock syndrome. These people are completely crazy,or the biggest crooks out there.
Anyway, I have to fix this before it gets worse. How do I check if it's a bad sensor, or if the compressor itself that's not inflating the airstruts? and where is their location under the trunk? I would like to know before I spend a fortune to fix this.

Answer
The first thing you have to do is test the computers for DIAGNOSTIC CODES.

1. Ignition ON, Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons until the whole display lights up and then release the 2 buttons.

3. Write down all the LETTER/NUMBER combinations that appear on the screen.

4. When the display stops displaying the LETTER/NUMBERS it will stop and display PCM?

5. Push the AUTO button and turn the key OFF.
Let me know what they are.
