Cadillac Repair: 94 Seville SLS, paycheck to paycheck, reader scanner

Question
Hello again,
I have followed the procedure you told me to try, and it seems like it did actually clear the first 16 codes. Here is what it now shows:

NO PCM CODES
NO IPC CODES
CODE A037 HISTORY
NO SIR CODES
NO TCS CODES
CODE S030 HISTORY
CODE S032 HISTORY
CODE S036 HISTORY
CODE SO44 HISTORY
CODE SO73 HISTORY
PCM?

What do these abbreviations or codes actually stand for, and is there a way to find out what urgent replacements or repairs have to be made?
It looks like there is something else wrong with the car because the engine still keeps dying, and it recently started to make a new loud noise, especially when we would start the car.  We are just praying that it doesnt completely die on us because it is the only car that we have in the family.  We would bring it to a dealership but we are afraid of further big expenses as we just can't afford them living from paycheck to paycheck.

I want to thank you again for continuing to help us with this problem.

Hello,
I apologize for not responding right away, but our troublesome cadillac still keeps dying on the road. I did exactly what you had recommended the last time, and erased or cleared all of those history codes that the computer gave out, but unfortunately it hasn't changed anything. I dont remember if I mentioned to you in the previous e-mails that besides dying on the road, the RPM's always go up to 4 and 4.5 when I am driving the car on a highway and it has become even harder and more risky to drive it.
It seems like buying a code reader would cost about as much as the computer diagnostic, so do you think taking it to a dealership or another shop is the best or the only thing we can do at his point, or is there still another alternative?

Thank you again for your advice.

Question -
Hello,

I am trying to find an OBD I code reader/scanner for my cadillac so I can figure out what exactly needs to be repaired or checked in the car, as there seem to be a few problems with it.  The biggest one is that it keeps dying on the road and doesn't start too well afterwards, and almost every time before the car dies or quits it starts to 'cough' and thrust forward. The check engine light is on most of the time but sometimes it disappears for a few hours or even a day. Unfortunately I don't have any money at all for dealership or even a private shop repair or diagnostic, so I would greatly appreciate your advice on this and any direction as to what code reader/Obd model I need to test it.

Thank you!
