Cadillac Repair: 1985 Eldorado Surging at stop and dieseling on take off when hot., computer nuts, dieseling

Question
Tom I need some help.  I borrowed my Dad's 85 Eldorado for a trip this weekend to Daytona which is about 130 miles away from me.  We are then driving to Orlando Friday evening for dinner.

Only after the car has been driven a while when stopping the car surges once, the idle drops, then comes back up, and when taking off a very distinct dieseling sound comes from the engine. The desieling sound will go away if I accelerate quickly.  When cold the car runs strong.  It has 88k original miles, has not been driven regularly for 3 - 4 years, and has been not driven at all for the last 10 - 12 months.  The fuel tank was near empty and filled with fresh fuel and a can of injector cleaner.  I have no trouble codes in the computer and have disconnected the one O2 sensor I was able to find with no success.

I'm worried that my wife and I might get stuck on the side of the road a long way from home.  What do you think?

Thanks for your help and advice.

Answer
Reconnect that o2 sensor as your driving the computer NUTS as it has no way to know how much fuel to put in the engine.

Reconnect it and drive it and see if you get a code 13, 44, or 45 and let me know.

If you get a 13. replace the 02 sensor.

If you get a 44, Put 2 cans of dry gas or equivelant in the gas tank.

If you get a 45, PANIC.

Just kidding on the 45. Just let me know.
