Cadillac Repair: 85 cadillac fleetwood problems(rwd), fuel pressure gauge, 1985 cadillac fleetwood

Question
i have 1985 cadillac fleetwood(rwd) this is the problem my car want start unless i spray starter fluid onto where the injectors are but i went to one shop and they told me that it looks like i was have a fuel problem and me fuel pump might need to be change but they didnt test anything and another shop tested the car and told me that the injectors wasnt receving a signal from the computer and the computer needs to be change because cause when he did the test only thing that showed up was trouble code 52 and i was also told that it could be a cloged fuel filter so i wanted to know if you might have a idea of whats going on with it and is there any real way to check for these problems and what should i do

Answer
Hi,Deshon

It can be either the fuel pump or an ECM,i would have the fuel pressure checked first, you need to put a fuel pressure gauge on and see if its getting good fuel pressure, you can also see if any fuel is in the fuel lines by locating the service port it is located on the fuel rail near the injectors it has a cap that covers it,remove the cap and turn the key on,press the valve{looks like the tire fill valve}and see if fuel sprays from the valve,if it does then pressure may be ok,if it just trickles out or there is no fuel then i suspect the pump.
