Cadillac Repair: 98 GMC Safari Stalling Out, gmc safari, egr valve

Question
Just recently we had our power window replaced
on our van. Coincidence or not, the next day we
began experiencing a variety of gauge problems
(Temp. & Fuel Level - both would "peg" in both
directions. Also, the "check engine" & "check
gauges" lights came on. Occasional stalling began
to occur. Took to mechanic - codes indicated that
we had a bad EGR Valve, plus our Dash needed
servicing. Both were repaired, and both of the
trouble lights went out, but our van still stalls
out when we are going down the road, without
any trouble lights indicating on the dash. We are
currently some 150+ miles from home, and only
experienced this stalling near the end of our trip. The mechanic who did work on our vehical did
make mention of some "soft" codes that came up in
diagnostics for the fuel guage sender, or something like that, but said that they were early
on, and that we would get a "check engine" light
if it became chronic. Could something like a
clogged fuel filter be causing this? Any other ideas? I'm getting tired of spending $250+ per
repair to not get the main problem fixed....

Answer
I do not see any relation to the problems that you have now with the window replacement.

However there are a cluster of GROUND WIRES  located near the dash area and a ground wire in the door pnel that may possiblly became loose when the window was worked on.

This cluster of ground wires also are grounds for the dash components and need to be checked.

I wish there was a simple answer to your problem but this is going to take some looking and testing of various electrical circuits.
