Cadillac Repair: Rear suspension, speed bump, air ride suspension

Question
I have an '86 fleetwood FWD 4.1l with air ride

My driver side rear is very low and bottoms out over a speed bump.  I enquired about putting regular struts in there but was told that I have to put a spring in also?  my air ride pump comes on and off normally so am not sure if that really is the problem or not.  maybe you have an idea?  also, can I replace 1 strut, or do you have to replace them in pairs?  what is involved in "converting" it to put regular struts in? and lastly, does the front have air adjust, or is it just the rear?   thnx for anything you can help me out with.

Answer
The struts MUST be replaced in PAIRS.

The air ride suspension is pretty reliable in the Caddy's. If you are fairly mechanically inclined and can perform some simple test procedures, I can provide you with ALL of the information that you will need to diagnose and fix your problem.
