Cadillac Repair: Fuel, complete fuel system, throttle positioning sensor

Question
My 88' sedan deville is hesitating, slugish on take offs, will just lose power in the accelleration out of nowhere and bogs down at diffrent times. but not all the time. all ready changed the fuel filter, used Synergen octane booster a complete fuel system cleaner. and it is still running bad. what should i try next.

Answer
There are numerous possibilities, Such as:

1. A partially restricted catalytic converter where the internal components have come loose and intermittently restrict the exhaust flow.

2. An intermittent faulty fuel pump.

3. An intermittemt faulty fuel pump regulator.

4. An intermittent faulty TPS (Throttle Positioning Sensor) of which in many cases will NOT illuminate the CHECK ENGINE light on the dash.

What mechanical work or ANY kind of work has been performed on the vehicle recently ?. As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made as a vacuum line may have been knocked loose or a wire connection is loose, Look around in the area where work was performed.

What has been done on the vehicle in past repairs ?.

IS or has the CHECK ENGINE light EVER illuminated ?.
