I think my heater core is blown.  I have water on the passenger side floor and also a moisture buildup on the inside of ther windows.  I have digital climate control, can I bypass the heater core without affecting my air conditioning?
Answer -
Do you have WATER or ANTI-FREEZE on the floor board ?.

It looks and feels like warm water.  It doesn't have that "maple syrup" smell. What would the other scenario be if it were anti-freeze?

If it is actuaaly water, Your heater core is NOT leaking. Look for a small tube on the bottom of the evaporator sticking out of the firewall under the vehicle. The tube is probably blocked with debris and just needs you to stick your finger in the tube and open up the drain.

If it is anti-freeze it would have a SWEET smell to it and would have a bitter taste. If this is the case, then YES, you most likely have a heater core leak. However make sure that the 2 heater hose clamps are TIGHT where they attach to the heater core at the firewall.

Where do I find this evaporator?  The whole passenger side floor is soaked with water, front and back.  We've had alot of rain in my area in the past week, I don't know if that would have anything to do with the clogged evaporator.

Answer
I looked all thru my Catera books and there is no picture showing this tube.

If you look in side of the engine compartment beside the steering shaft and below the barke booster you will see where the 2 A/C lines go thru the firewall and attach to the evaporator of which is located inside of the vehicle to the right of the gas pedal behind the large black plastic heater-A/C housing panel. this black housing panel extends all the way over to the passengers side .

If you look under the vehicle near the firewall on the passengers side or nearer towards the cenetr of the vehicle you will see a small black tube with nothing attached to it. This is the CONDENSATION DRAIN HOSE.

Since the fresh air intake duct is loacted just under the passengers side of the windshield, Rain water can also enter into this intake duct and passes thru the black plastic housing of the evaporator housing and thus drains out thru this  CONDENSATION DRAIN HOSE also.

IF you leave the car set still and run the A/C on max cool for about 1/2 to an hour with the engine running you should see a small puddle of water dripping out from under the cenetr or near the center of the vehicle behind the engine and in front of the passengers compartment UNDER the vehicle. This water is coming out of the CONDENSATION DRAIN HOSE. If this hopse is plugged up inside with debris the evaporator housing will back up with condensation and rain water and flood the interior of the vehicle.

There IS a possibility that this drain tube has fallen OFF the vehicle and in this case all you will see is either a hole about the size of your little finger or a plastic tube extension of the evap housing.

I just can't find a picture to show you exactly where it is located.
