Cadillac Repair: 1996 Cadillac deville blower motor, carpet knife, head bolts

Question
How do you remove the blower motor from this car?

Answer
Hi Stan, This one is alittle differant. First start by removing the coil pack connectors and 4 10mm head bolts and move it out of the way with the sparkplug wires still attached. Remove the blower motor connector. Take a carpet knife or other sharp knife and cut through the cover on the marks above the blower motor. Useing a 7mm socket on a spring style flexable extension...they work the best but a universal with a 5" extension would still work...remove the 5 screwbolts around the blower motor making sure to remove the one at the bottom. Finish cutting through the case cover and peel it back and there is another bolt to the right that holds a top plastic piece in place. Once that is removed the motor should come out. Then reverse the steps to install. There isn't any need to glue or tape the cover in place where you cut it just so that it is held in place by the blower motor. When installing the coil pack make sure that the sparkplug wires are at least 2" away from the blower motor so that stray sparks don't jump from a wire to the motor and damage the module inside. Hope that helps. Bill
