Cadillac Repair: 94 cadillac sedan deville, clutch fan, cadillac sedan deville

Question
My oil pan was leaking so I got a new gasket. I removed all the bolts and it will not drop because of the exhaust pipe. Do I have to remove the exhaust pipe?
Also when I'm driving the car I hear a whirring
noise from the engine comparment. It sounds like
a bad clutch fan type noise. I parked the car and raised the hood, didn't hear anything unusual even with the fans on. It is noticeable when I accelerate while driving. Any suggestions?  thanks Terry

Answer
Not ONLY do you have to remove the exhaust pipe you have to RAISE the engine UP in order to get the pan off the vehicle as the crankshaft will be hitting the oil pan unless you raise the engine up.

As to the noise, I would have to hear it.
