Cadillac Repair: where is starter, caddy 97 councors de ville, rear cylinder head, neutral safety switch

my caddy no cranking I want test the starter, where is this? I dont now

Hi reymedina, GM engineers decided to hide it under the intake manifold in the valley of the engine. There is a purple wire near the front of the rear cylinder head. If you open that connector and hook up a 12 volt test light or voltmeter to the wire and with the key in the start position that wire should have battery voltage. If not then you might have a problem with the neutral safety switch or wireing. If voltage then it is probably starter replacement time. And that is a job best done by a qualified shop.
