Chrysler Repair: 2001 Chrysler Sebring Conv. 2.7 - Limp Mode, solenoid pack, sebring conv

Question
QUESTION: Hello:

I was driving my car about .5 miles from home and felt transmission thumb. Took the car back home. Check the codes by switching car off/on. Codes: P1684 & P0700 showed up. Car has 54K miles. Took car to Chrysler to confirm problem. Was told that the solenoid pack and TCM needed to be replaced.
QUES: Can I replace the TCM with a used part? Is it true that the solenoid can damage the TCM? How do I locate and replace the TCM?
I have been searching for a TCM and found one on line that fits a 2003 sebring. It is hard to find this part for a low price. I have already located a solenoid pack and instructions on how to replace it.

Thanks

ANSWER: what were the codes that Chrysler gave u   I doubt the tcm needs to be replaced unless there is a certain code that I am looking for.

QUESTION: They did not give me any codes. The check engine light came on right after the thumb and I got the codes from the car. They claim that they checked it on a computer scanner. Should I ask them if they found any codes?

The car can be driven but not more than 20mph. It is not shifting gears. It is an automatic trans.

ANSWER: yeah they should have given u the codes  or its on your repair order they gave u. if not call them up and ask what they were.

QUESTION: Hello:

I got in contact with Chrysler this morning 3/30/09 and they gave me the same code that I gave you P0700.  He told me that they just put it on the machine and checked the electric components and discovered it was the TCM and solenoid pack.
The question I asked earlier was that: Can I replace the TCM and solenoid pack with a used one? How often does this problem happen? Where is the TCM and solenoid pack located?

I have a 2001 Convertible 2.7 engine.

Answer
they are yanking your chain  if U went to a dealer they have the scanner that is made for the car  and they did not just get p700  they would have had to get into the tranny computer to get the real codes as I said p700 is just saying to the engine computer that the tranny wants the light on  that's it.
I would not get a used one  get a new one plus U will need a new gasket once U take it off.  They are under the air filter housing attached to the tranny.
