Cadillac Repair: Gasoline, fuel brand, wondering what type

I have a '85 fleetwood.  I am wondering what type of gas is best.  From what company, if there is a difference.  Also, why is that the best type of gas?  what will happen if i put in a lower grade?   thnx for your help.

Whatever the manufacturer recommends is what you should be using. However you can use a lower octane grade of fuel but do NOT use it all the time.

If the engine starts to make a pinging type sound under heavy acceleration especially when going up a long steep grade this is a sign that the you need to use a higher octane fuel.

Brand of gasoline I have found no difference.
