Cadillac Repair: change starter, octane fuel, cadilac

Question
Do you have to pull the motor on a 1994 cadilac deville with v-8 engine to change starter.  also my 4.3 chev engine idles good no noise but after you start into a small hill you can hear a ticking which gets louder and sounds like a lifter then after the motor evens out the ticking goes away slowly. I have adjusted lifters and cant figure this out, has been doing it for a couple of months.  Thanks , John

Answer
The 5.7 engine has the starter mounted on the side of the engine block.

as to the 4.3L without actually hearing this ticking it is most likely  an octane ping and or a problem with the timing.  Try using a higher octane fuel or a different brand.
