Cadillac Repair: Air Conditioning, temperature air, pressure sensor

Question
I have a 1996 SLS.  Air conditioner works for approximately 1 1/2 hours on long distance drives and then starts blowing ambient temperature air.  As soon as the ignition is turned off for approximately 1 minute, then restarted the system returns to proper cooling function.  What's the problem.

PS: My husband thinks I should continue to turn the car off for a few seconds and restarting.  Please help me.    Thanks, Ellen

Answer
What I believe is happening is that the pressure sensor is NOT cycling the compressor which will cause the system to freeze up and blow arm air. once you turn OFF the engine the compressor STOPS and the sytsem defrosts and the cycle repeats itself. You will need to have a qualified technician run some diagnostic tests on the system before you do DAMAGE to it.
