Cadillac Repair: CADILLAC BLOWER, jumper wire, blower motor

Question
I have a 1993 Eldorado with 70,000 miles.  The blower motor works on all speeds except MAX.  One mechanic said I'd have to replace the blower motor, and that the car engine would have to be partially removed to get to the blower motor.  I got a second opinion.  This mechanic said it's nothing to do with the blower motor that the speeds are controlled by a relay; finding and replacing the relay is needed, not replacing the motor.  Which one of these, if either, sounds valid?  THANK YOU.

Answer
In MOST cases the problem is either the blower motor or the power module.

Blower motor speed is controlled by the POWER MODULE only. There is NO RELAY in the system.

Disconnect the PURPLE wire from the blower motor and using a 20 amp fused jumper wire attach one end to the positive battery terminal and the other to the blower motor terminal and see if you now have full high speed blower motor operation.

If you DO, replace the POWER MODULE.

If you do NOT, Replace the blower motor.
