Cadillac Repair: 1992 Cadillac Sedan Deville heater motor problem, jumper pin, cadillac sedan deville

Question
Bill,
I have a 1992 Caddy Deville. It has 170,000 miles and has been serviced as required. With the exception of a sticky blend door, now and then, it has had no HVAC problems. The AC system has been upgraded to R-134 including a new AC compressor etc. Out of the blue the blower motor stopped working. I have tried all settings for AC and heat. You can hear clicks when you change modes. I have checked all fuses in the left under dash fuse block. I also checked the fuses under the hood. I checked the power feed line to the blower in several settings including full defrost and there is no power @ the plug that connects to the blower motor. Are there other fuses or circuit brakers not clearly marked or easily found? What else or where else should I look? Thank you for your help!

Answer
Hi Ed, Can you say power module? What happens is when the blower motor uses too many amps to run it weakens the power module and eventually the motor stops. Replaceing the blower motor and power module is the reccommended repair.
To test the module...it is located in the top RH side of the blower motor houseing under the hood...you will need to disconnect the 2 wire connector and see if you get battery voltage on the RED wire. That is power comming from the RH maxi fuse block 30A fuse. If you get battery voltage disconnect the 4 wire connector at the power module and jumper pin A/purple wire to the battery useing a 20A fuse. If the fuse blows with-in 2 minuits it module and motor time. Hope that makes sense. Bill
