Cadillac Repair: security light, 1979 cadillac seville, cadillac seville

I have a 1979 Cadillac Seville with a security light that flashes once the car is shut off.All the doors are shut and it just started doing it.Any ideas on what it could be or how to disable it so it won't drain the battery?

Hi Jack, Your Seville is alittle before my time and I don't have access to a shop manual for it. Try posting the question with autohelp because he has been working with cars longer than I have. The only thing I could suggest is to remove the door jam switches 1 at a time starting with the drivers door and see if there is a wire that may have corroded off and is touching metal inside the body. Fishing the wire out isn't too big a deal and replacing the switch or taping the wire end might be all that is necessary. You might find a fuse in the fuse block labled theft or security that if removed might disable the light and hopefully nothing else. Hope that helps. Bill
