Cadillac Repair: 87 cadillac deville w/a 4.5 from a 91, electrical schematics, haynes manual

Question
I bought a car that had a new engine from a 91 caddy w/ a 4.5 I gave it a tune up and it ran great on a roadtrip and around town for about 10 days then I go out to start it one day, and it was always a little hard to get going when cold but now it won't start at all. it has good spark I smell gas after trying to start it checked the fuses, ran the diagnostic and the BCM codes are F41 and F48. F48 in my Haynes manual reads as air cond. no big deal.. F41 is not a BCM code that is available. except in the ECM code list which is the camshaft pos. sensor. and 48 is for EGR fault. so what should I go by?!!!!!

Answer
To be perfectly HONEST, I don't have a CLUE.

They put a 91 engine into a vehicles computer system that is ONLY designed for a 1987 engine. Unlees, and I DOUBT, That they had electrical schematics for BOTH engines and replaced the computer (ECM) and rewired ALL of the electrical connection harnesses to EXACTLY match the 1991 engine, Your have a MESS on your hands.

There is NO WAY to tell WHICH system, The 87 or the 91 to go by.

Without knowing EXACTLY if each and every wire and component is compatable, I honestly don't have an answer for you.
