Cadillac Repair: CAR WONT START 1988 CADILLAC, inline fuse, fuse block

Question
CAR LIGHTS WORK INSIDE AND OUT  WHEN YOU TURN ON THE KEY BUT STARTER WON'T GO HAVE CHECKED BATTERY AND TERMINELS ALSO HAD STARTER CHECKED IS THERE A INLINE FUSE THAT MAY HAVE BLOWN

Answer
Hi Richard, I need to know what kind of Caddy you have before I can be more specific. Make sure you check all the fuses in the fuse block. Try holding the key in the start position with your foot on the brake pedal and move the shifter from P to D. If you have a pellet in the key try the other key. If a theft message comes on or wait 4 minuits etc. then you probably need a new ignition lock cylinder and keys. Try tapping the body of the starter while someone turns the key with the gearshift in park. Take a 12 volt test light or voltmeter and see if you get battery voltage on the ignition wire at the starter(small purple wire) while trying to start in park. Maybe the starter or battery cable is bad or loose. Hope that helps. Bill
