Cadillac Repair: water pump, radiator fan, lh side

Question
i have a 98 deville and need to know how and where to replace the water pump
i figure that is the cause of my leaking fluid out of the system seeing as how every thing else checks out fine and the car has 70,000 miles on it also need to know how to remove the radiator drain plug seeing as how its nearly impossible to reach where it is
is there a special tool needed to reach it
i have worked on cars for many years myself but this caddy pretty much is stumping me

Answer
Hi Gordon, A shop manual will walk you through the waterpump replacement procedure. It is located at the rear of the front valve cover...just follow the belt. Once you have the rear cover off it takes a special socket that turns clockwise to remove the pump and some of them can be stubborn such that you don't think it will turn and all of a sudden it does. The best way to open the drain plug with out taking anything off like a radiator fan and air cleaner housing is to raise up the front end and useing pliers of the right length open the drain on the LH side of the rad. turning counterclockwise.
