Answer
Hi Tony, Its been rather hectic around here the past 2 weeks. On your Deville there are 2 places that the dimmer switch can be found...on the floor to the left of the brake pedal or on the steering column and activated by pulling forward on the turn signal lever. The actual switch is mounted on the side of the column above the brake pedal area and along side the ignition switch. I would think you have a bad switch mounted on the floor because it takes alittle effort to make the column one change...The carb has an adjustment for the accellerator pump arm and removing the arm and installing it in the other hole might be all that is required if it has a 2 position arm. Otherwise maybe the wrong size carb was given to you or the rebuild wasn't done correctly. I'm not up on the quadrajets to know how to tweek then as I started with Caddy in '84 and know fuel injection better. You could say I rebuild the quads by bolting on a Holley. LOL...The book I would recommend would be like the 77 Cadillac all series shop manual #7919595651.  There are several listed now rangeing from $9.75 to $59.95 and with that manual you will have alot of the information that you will need to repair your car including the headlight and carb problems you are experriancing. Hope that helps. Bill
