Cadillac Repair: 1999 Cadillac Deville a/c problem, orifice tube, cadillac deville

Question
The a/c unit turns itself off and on unpredictably while driving around town.  When I start the car it turns on and will stay on for random amounts of time.  The a/c compressor, accumulator, and orifice tube have all been replaced 10 trouble free months ago.  The air coming out is cold like it should be, but for some reason the unit just turns itself on and off and has been doing so for six weeks now.

Hi Linda, With an intermittant condition like this it would be tough to track down even with the car in front of me. The compressor relay might have bad contacts or a loose connection somewhere in the circuits. Cadillac has a vey good scan tool that in the right hands can help determine if the compressor is told to turn on but just isn't doing it, if any codes are stored that might help or if you mean air just doesn't come out of the vents then that is a sign of a bad blower motor. If the airflow is good but just not cold you will need to take the car in preferably to the dealer and have it checked out. Sorry I can't be more help because this is a very complicated system. Bill
