PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO PUT A TELASCOPIC STEERING WHEEL BACK ON AFTER REPLACING THE IGNITION.  I HAVE IT ALMOST BACK ON, BUT IT WILL LOCK COMPLETELY ON.  IT IS 1989 DEVILLE.  PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Hi Bette, I have done many of these but am kind of confused by your question as to where you are. If you mean that everything is back together including the steering wheel and you can't get the telescopeing assembly to lock once the steeringwheel nut is tightened take the lock lever plate and insert it so the knob sticks out of the top of the steeringwheel. Then thread the telescopeing plate screw and turn it in until it stops useing eithor a small flatblade screwdriver or a #0 phillips screwdriver inserted in one of the slots so you don't cut your fingers. Do not try to use a threaded hole. You will see 3 circles on the plate from the 3 screws so line the holes up with the marks and then litely tighten the screws and try to see if it locks and unlocks the column. If so then install the horn pad and you're done. If it won't lock then remove the screws and with the lever pointing to the far left inserting the screws and try again. The main thing is to get the plate tightened completely useing the screwdriver. If you need further help let me know. Bill
