Cadillac Repair: 97 seville water pump, change good luck, tiawan

I am trying to change the water pump on a 97 seville, with a 4.6 northstar. I got everything off, but can't get the pump out of the housing. It appears that the pump needs to turn to the right in the housing, and then pull out. But I can't get it to turn. Any suggestions.

Hi Bruce, You are correct about turning clockwise to remove. You do have the special socket I'll assume. Sometimes they are real tough to get out and a long breaker bar or a pipe on the end of a quality ratchet...no Japan, China or Tiawan cheapies here or it will break and you might get hurt...and alot of effort might be required. I use a 24" Snap On breaker bar. Just when you think it won't move it will comr loose. If its too tight and you aren't strong enough even with the pipe then you will have to put things back together and have a shop do the change. Good luck. Bill
