Cadillac Repair: Complete shutdown on 1999 Cadillac DeVille, battery cables, cadillac deville

Question
I have owned this vehicle for one month. It has 72,000 miles. It ran perfectly until a couple of days ago. When I turned on the ignition, the climate control display didn't turn on. The car started, but the parking break wouldn't release. I turned the car off, restarted it and everything worked. This morning, when I turned on the ignition a message, "Service stablility sys" flashed. The car wouldn't start. I turned off the ignition, turned it on again. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Nothing works. No lights, no door locks, no radio, no ignition. I'll check the battery tommorrow. If that's not the problem, do you have any ideas?
Thanks

Answer
Hi John, Sounds like there is a battery cable problem or a loose power/battery wire at one of the junction blocks. Sometimes when that happens the negative cable end is loose at the passenger front of the engine. You could have a bad ignition switch also. If the battery cables and battery are good than towing your car to the Caddy dealer might be the best thing to do because they will be most famillar with where to look to fix this problem. Sorry I can't be more help. Bill
