Cadillac Repair: brake sensor 1998 cadillac seville sts, 1998 cadillac seville, cadillac seville

Question
I took my 1998 cadillac seville STS to change the brake pads at a local tire shop. They changed it with after market semi-metalic pads, but they wire tie the sensor up, becouse they were damage from the old pads.So the computer dash tell me to change my pads all the time,I dont think they knew about the sensor. I called the dealership they said GM brake pads come with the sensor on them or I can buy them but no returns on electronic parts. My question is if I buy the sensor at the cadillac dealer will they fit after market brake pads. Or will I have to buy the GM pads every I change the brakes. thanks

Answer
Hi Eddie, I would think that if you got a good quality pad made by Wagner or Raybestos that they might fit but I do not know for sure. Buying the correct pads from Cadillac is probably the best thing to do and you know they will stop the car propperly. If you get those $9.95 cheepies that some places install and you have to make a panic stop or comming down a steep grade they may not stop as well and cause you to have an accedent. Get the correct part and have piece of mind. Bill
