Cadillac Repair: Steering, cadillac deville, service writer

Question
This pertains to a 2002 Cadillac Deville with about 40,000 miles.  Recently I've noticed that while making a sharp left or right handed turn I notice a pinging noise that lasts for about 2 seconds.  This does not happen all the time.  The noise is the same as when strumming a guitar string.  I'd like your opinion prior to me bringing this to a mechanic.

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Larry, Noises are really difficult to diagnos in a forum such as this especially since you don't say where you think the noise is comming from. A front spring insulator or strut bearing that is sticking could cause a noise such as this. There could be a service bulletin on this problem but going for a ride with a service writer or mechanic and you driving to duplicate the noise would be the best thing to do. Sorry I can't be anymore help than that. Bill
