Cadillac Repair: Headlight bulb replacement on 1990 cadillac seville, 1990 cadillac seville, cadillac seville

Question
Unfortunately I do not have the owner manual for car.  How do I replace the low beam bulb headlight on my 90' Seville.

Answer
Hi Michael, Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I am having computor trouble here. If you still need help then remove the black plastic cover that goes across the top of the headlamps. Then there will be 2 10mm bolts at the top that need to be removed. Then remove the phillips screw in the small panel below the headlamp assembly and remove that piece and behind that are 2 more bolts. You might need a universal joint to put on the socket to gain access to the bolts and it might be a good idea to tape the socket, u-joint and entension together so it doesn't come apart and fall inside somewhere. Once the 4 bolts are removed then the headlamp housing can be pulled forward and the bulb turned counterclockwise and removed. Be carefull not to touch the gas part of the bulb because there is a high pressure gas inside and the oil from your fingers can make it break causing injury that might require a doctor to remove the glass. Then reverse the procedure to install. The trick with the 2 bottom bolts is to lay 2-3 layers of cleanex across the socket and then press the bolt into the socket and the cleanex will hold the bolt in place. You can then tear off excess before feeding the bolt under the headlamp assembly. Hope that helps. Bill
