Cadillac Repair: air conditioner, air conditioner compressor, wire terminal

Question
When I start my 96 DeVille the air conditioner compressor works. The evaporator fan doesnt. When the motor warms up the compressor cuts out. The evaporator fan never comes on. When 12 volts are applied to the fan motor it works. Somewhere some relay or something is not energizing the fan. Where can I look?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Robert, Underhood by the LF strut area there is a fuse center. Check that the INDVERT 50A fuse is good and the red wire at the blower motor has power. Then with the test light put one end of the testlight to touch the black wire terminal and the other to touch the red wire terminal. That checks the ground circuit. Then set the blower motor to hi fan and test the voltage at terminal B grey wire it should have more than 4 volts. If not then the problem could be the signal sent to the programmer from the dash control or the programmer. At this point it would be advisable the take your car to a sharp Caddy tech and have him determine where the problem is. Those 2 parts can cost over $250 each and the problem maybe with them or a wire. Hope that helps. Bill
