Cadillac Repair: abs system on 1987 Cadillac Allante, cadillac allante, climate control

Question
My mechanic says I need a new sensor block on my abs system.  Your web site does not list that as a piece of equipment that can be had.  What the heck to I do?  Is there some other name for the sensor block?  My abs warning comes on intermittently, especially when I press the brake pedal hard.

Answer
Hi Joe, It would help to know what code(s) were set, then I could determine what needs to be replaced. To Read the codes run the engine in park and press the off and red/warmer button on the climate control panel for 5 seconds or until it goes into diagnostics. Then write down all the codes that you get. There will be a letter followed by a number. Repost the codes and maybe we can work through this together. Once all the codes have been read turn the key to off and the next time the car is started the dash will return to normal. Allantes have had problems with the brake switch and accumutator but that sensor block....I would get a second opinion from a Caddy dealer tech unless that was where you got this diagnosis from. Hope to hear from you soon. Bill
