Cadillac Repair: water pump, cadillac sedan deville, head bolts


Question
Have a 91 cadillac sedan deville v8 4.9
My water pump i leaking and i just wanted to know if it is a hard job to change the water pump? will i be able to reach it by removing the tire and plastic housing or will i have to look at pulling out engine or removing other parts.
How long would u say this job takes? and is there anything else i need to no before starting, thanks all info and suggestions apreciated

Hi Alex, All the work to remove the water pump is done under the hood...no need to remove the tire or plastic panel. The worst part is if one of the 4 torx head bolts doesn't want to come loose and you will need to heat it up. Otherwise it isn't too bad a job. Warrenty time was around 1 3/4 hrs but for a first time I would allow 3 hours. I would get a manual from the library and read the procedure and then decide if this is with-in you ability level and if you have the metric tools and gasket scraper needed to change it. Bill
