Cadillac Repair: 1997 Cadillac Deville - Traction Control, dry pavement, cadillac deville

Question
I recently purchased the above car with 80k miles.  It runs great, but when accelerating from a dead stop, inevitably there is a pulsing sensation and Traction Control Activated shows on the display.  This happens on dry pavement and not under full load, nor leadfooting.  If the vehicle is allowed to roll before acceleration, then Traction does not engage.  Is this a sensor problem?  Thanks for any help!

Answer
Hi Tom, It really doesn't matter if the pavement is wet or dry if the tires have poor tread or a poor traction rateing then tires will have the ability to spin. The traction control is supposed to engage at the slightest wheel spin so you may not be aware of tire spin before the light comes on. If you have good tire tread and the air pressure is 30 psi cold then maybe you will need to upgrade your tires or change how fast you accellerate. If after driving a month or two and this condition is still bothering you then take it in and see if there is a sensor or other malfunction. I don't feel there would be. I feel it is eithor driving style or poor tires.Bill
