Cadillac Repair: 1992 cad. eld., loose ground, computor

the fan will go on,theMPG,RANGE,OUT SIDE TEMP, and INSIDE TEMP. indicators show ----,I cant shut the fan off,after a time it corrects itself andthe inside temp. ind. shows 75

Hi d.scappa, Whats happening is that the computor is resetting itself. That is why when the display returns to normal it shows 75. There are several things that could cause this to happen which include a loose ground wire or a bad soldier joint inside the BCM, programmer or display panel. Unfortuneatly if there are no codes stored and the condition won't act up long enough to find then you will need to continue driving it until it acts up long enough to diagnos or fails and then the part can be replaced. If a system on the car was worked on and then this started happening then rechecking the previous work might determine where the problem lies. Sorry that I can't help anymore than that. Bill
