Question - Thanks Bill.  I tried raising the engine & trans with a floor jack plus board, but the lack of clearance is with the subframe and "stuff" attached to the top of the subframe.  The bottom of the mount attaches to the subframe with three threaded studs, and those studs are reached thru holes in the bottom of the subframe, a hollow box beam.  The mount won't raise up high enough to clear the threaded studs from the subframe, as long as the bracket that bolts to the trans is attached.  - George

Bill:  This question is about a 91 Buick Park Avenue - I know your expertise is Cadillacs, but I am desperate.  I pulled the nuts/bolts from the left rear transaxel mount, but do not have clearance to remove the mount.  Is there a way to remove(from the old mount) the bracket that bolts to the transaxel?  I am hoping to not have to remove the subframe assembly.  Thanks for any assistance.  - George

Hi george, If it is like the Caddy mounts sometimes you need to remove the engine mount to frame nuts on that side and useing a board between the engine oil pan and floor jack raise the engine and trans so the trans mount can slide out. Hope that helps. Bill

Hi George, Maybe I misread your post. Is the trans mount by the radiator or the firewall? Bill

Answer
Hi George, I was confused then. What the Caddy book says to do is remove the bolts for the power steering rack on the right and left sides and move the rack up and forward. Then the bolts in the trans and nuts in the frame for the mount will be accessable and the mount can be removed. Not the easiest job to do on the ground. If you don't have safe jackstands or supports then haveing a shop do the mount replacement would be a good idea. Good Luck, Bill
