Cadillac Repair: Headlight, reflective paint, liquid soap

Question
Hello Bill,

I have a 1991 Cad,Fleetwood and it got hit in the front fender, this took out the headlight. It was replaced with, I guess, out of the junk yard. Any way, I have one light that is clean and the one that was replaced looks dirty, this is looking at it without having the lights turned on.It looks dirty on the iside. Can this be taken apart and cleaned?
Thank you in advance!

Answer
Hi Jack, What you could do is take some mild liquid soap and mix it with water and then with the headlamp assembly off the car and the bulbs out, pour some soapy water in the headlamp and swish it around and then rinse it out. Don't blast any water inside or use strong soap or you will damage the silver reflective paint inside. Shake as much water out as you can and then put the bulbs back in and the housing back on the car. DO NOT touch the bulb glass or it can break/explode in your fingers causing injury. The lenz is glued to the rear section and taking the clips off will not allow the halfs to separate. Hope that helps. Bill
