Cadillac Repair: 91 Seville, seat area, motor assemblies

Question
We have a problem with the drivers seat.  The front and back button does not work.  The left and right movement works, but not the up and down movement.  This is a major problem due to the fact I last drove it and I like the seat close to the front and my husband 6ft likes his seat all the way in the back seat area.  Due to it not working he is unable to get in and drive.  Any advice on how to fix this problem.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Darlene, It could be as simple as replacing the switch. You would need to test it by useing a testlight or voltmeter while holding the button and seeing if power is comming out of the switch. Alot of times the switch corrodes inside and by taking it apart carefully and sanding the contacts with very fine sandpaper you can get it to work again. If it has power out of the switch then testing will need to be done at the motor assemblies as they can fail or the cable can twist and break. If you need a motor then going to a junk yard might be the cheapest way to go. Hope that helps. Bill
